Description

Starting at FS 74, climbs moderately on a wide old road bed through a couple of switchbacks, first to the right and then to the left. Be sure not to take any mis-leading side trails leading away from the switchbacks on the old road. Traverses the mountain for a short distance before rounding a ridge in a northeasterly direction, then veers right (southeast) up a steep old skid path at an easy-to-miss junction off the old road bed.

(Straight ahead the old road bed continues on a better-worn path. This dead-ends in about 0.8 mi after crossing upper Corner Rock creek).

This steep climb leads southeast to the trail's official end at the end of the Laurel Gap trail. Provides options for loops by combining with the Laurel Gap, Little Andy, and Bear Pen trails.

Forest Service literature reports the trail as being orange-blazed; I saw none on my last hike here as of November 2018.
